The after effects and consequences of these addictions are long-lasting and are often devastating. Any sort of addiction will leave an individual exhausted, demotivated, loss in confidence, leading to personal and work relationship issues. They can lose their enthusiasm for life.

People can then feel powerless and helpless about their addiction.  Some are hesitant to talk to people about it as they feel shame and stigmatised. They may be reluctant to seek professional help. It is also important to understand that people who experience an addiction can feel vulnerable emotionally as well as compromising their physical health.  According to the Diagnostic and  Statistic Manual of Mental Health addiction is considered to be a disease and hence the right support can assist a person’s journey of recovery.
