Theres no doubt our pets become a significant member of our family. Our pets offer us unconditional love. They are there for us – they’re company. Whether we’re happy or sad they come up to us and they can comfort us.
Unfortunately our pets haven’t got a lifespan as long as us and every pet owner has had to confront end of life decisions with their beloved pet and this is really confronted, we feel conflicted. We know the time has come but that final journey to the vet can be very painful and very traumatic.
Vets say that it’s much better for the owners to be there when our pet crosses a rainbow. This also helps us in the grieving process of saying goodbye and the finality then hits us.
The grieving process is no different to if we’ve lost any other family member. The same feelings. So i just want to normalise this that it’s ok to grieve and to feel sad when we have to make that decision to say goodbye to our beloved pet.
